On January 31st 1982 a young man by the name of Earland Banfield, had a Damascus road experience when he gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 37 years, under a tent church in Petit Valley.
One year later, he began preaching, as a young minister, in the church in which he was saved and this continued for the next four years with him experiencing phenomenal spiritual growth, through the power and help of the Holy Spirit of God.
After only being saved five years, the Lord thrust him out of the church he grew to love and not knowing the next step, but recognising beyond any reason of doubt, the Call of God on his life, both he and his wife, Jennifer, began seeking the Lord at his home from that Sunday.
During the course of that week, his mother visited from the United States, and also joined them in prayer, worship, and the sharing of the Word of God which continued from week to week, every Sunday, and which grew in number from three persons to 15 …over a short period of time.
This continued for three months, during which time, the small group moved from his house to an old building in South Quay where the church continued to grow, both in numbers and spiritual development.
The church, then named Holiness Revival Ministries was formally incorporated as an independent Full Gospel Church, on 25th February 1988, with a membership of 47 persons.
After seven years at South Quay, and having grown to approximately 500 persons, the Lord miraculously opened a door to purchase the Astor Cinema in Woodbrook, where the church is now officially located, and which continues to expand.
Now in its 36th year of Ministry in 2023, and having been blessed by God with a sanctuary which seats 700 persons; a two-story building and Fellowship Hall, together with two other properties and its own car park, the work of the Lord continues to grow from strength to strength.
The work of the church expanded with missions in:
We continue to unceasingly give the Lord Jesus Christ, praise and thanks for all that He has done and for all that He continues to do…
